Our Story

Kind Owl was born from a simple belief: plant-based food should be full of flavour, nourishing, and easy to enjoy, not bland, complicated, or overly processed.

I started Kind Owl while studying for my MBA at the University of Glasgow, after years of working in engineering and manufacturing. I’ve been vegan for many years, and throughout that time I’ve always wanted more people to adopt plant-based protein, not as a compromise, but as a genuinely enjoyable, everyday choice. One that feels natural, satisfying, and made from real ingredients.

Coming from a background where efficiency, process, and quality matter deeply, I couldn’t help noticing the same problem again and again in the tofu aisle: products that were nutritious, but uninspiring; healthy, but time-consuming to prepare.

At the same time, the case for eating more plant-based food was becoming impossible to ignore. Animal agriculture uses vast amounts of land and resources, yet provides only a fraction of the world’s calories and protein. Tofu, on the other hand, is a complete protein, affordable, versatile, and far lighter on the planet. The problem wasn’t tofu itself. The problem was how it was being made and presented.

So I began experimenting.

Kind Owl tofu is crafted differently. Instead of relying on surface marinades, our flavours are infused during the making process, so they run through every bite. That means no pressing, no draining, no marinating, just tofu that’s ready to eat or cook, straight from the pack.

We work with organic, non-GM soybeans and focus on simple, familiar flavours inspired by real food cultures, including Mediterranean herbs, fragrant basil and olive oil, and bold Korean BBQ. Our aim is to help people discover plant-based protein that feels approachable, minimally processed, and easy to return to.

Kind Owl is for curious cooks, busy lives, and anyone who wants food that tastes good, does good, and fits effortlessly into everyday meals.
